Isana is a partner in Blaney McMurtry’s Insurance Defence Group, focusing exclusively on insurance defence litigation.
Isana has extensive experience in a wide range of insurance related matters including, occupiers’ liability, products liability, commercial host liability, sports, recreational and general liability, motor vehicle accident tort claims, construction litigation, property damage, and professional negligence. Isana has defended insurance brokers, adjusters, mortgage brokers, paralegals, engineers and architects. She also defends and provides opinions with respect to fraud and arson claims. Isana is also often retained to advance subrogated claims and to provide coverage opinions.
Isana is cognizant of her clients’ business approach and tolerance for risk. She strives to achieve pragmatic resolutions which are in the best interest of the client while attempting to avoid protracted and costly legal proceedings with uncertain outcomes. Isana is highly regarded as a legal counsel by her clients and peers with excellent negotiation and communication skills. She is committed to achieving resolutions of claims in a timely manner with a view to avoiding the cost of mediation or other unnecessary legal proceedings when possible. In circumstances in which this is not possible or where principles or business decisions dictate otherwise, Isana provides clients with aggressive legal representation. Isana has appeared on behalf of clients at all levels of Ontario Courts. She has also represented clients at both jury and non-jury trials, pre-trial conferences and mediations.
Isana is actively involved in organizing educational seminars and presentations on varied topics of interest for the purpose of continuing education and keeping her clients properly informed.
