Kang acts as a strategic business partner to his clients. He has national and global experience in various industries, including life sciences, food tech, cosmetics, robotics, AI, blockchain, and heavy industry. He combines legal acuity with commercial pragmatism to assist clients drive value, anticipate risk, manage uncertainty, and unlock opportunities in regulated and cross-border environments.
His practice includes regulatory and litigation counsel regarding intellectual property, technology, competition, trade and public law matters.
In his regulatory practice, Kang assists clients in navigating matters before various federal and provincial agencies. He has advised and/or represented clients in matters involving Health Canada, the Patented Medicines Prices Review Board, the Competition Bureau, and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. He also advises clients regarding compliance with the Charter of the French Language administered by the Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF).
In his litigation practice, Kang represents clients before courts and tribunals regarding intellectual property, technology, and regulatory disputes. He appears on behalf of clients in English and French. At the outset of his career, he clerked for judges of the Federal Court of Canada and the Quebec Superior Court.
Prior to joining the firm, Kang served as General Counsel and in-house counsel at leading Canadian and international companies. In these roles, he oversaw the companies’ corporate, litigation, and compliance portfolios, and supported several capital-intensive projects. Drawing from this experience, he provides in-house services to clients seeking strategic legal support in supply chain management, contract administration, and risk advisory.
In other aspects of his practice, Kang maintains an economic development practice where he serves as counsel to multinational partners seeking projects in Canada involving capital expenditures, brand management, and national security considerations. He has broad experience bridging partnerships and alliances between Canadian and foreign entities, including those based in the United States, South Korea, India, Spain, France, Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates.
